February 2020 Commentaries
These commentaries are continued from April 2019 Commentaries.
This page contains short comments I’ve posted about news articles on Trib Live. This is the website for three Pittsburgh area newspapers, including my hometown newspaper. I read their website every day. Trib Live is left leaning in its perspective across all three of its newspapers and on its website. The comments at the end of articles are also mostly left leaning, being posted mostly by people from the very blue city of Pittsburgh. As such, my voice is rather unique. That is why I decided to start posting comments, to counter the liberal perspective. There is a 750-character limit to comments, so I need to be concise in my comments, which is not always easy for me to do. The title links open in a new window. The comments are posted in reverse chronological order. Newest on top, oldest at the bottom.
Pennsylvania primary ballot finalized for presidential races, Congress, state legislature
“The three big issues are his [Biden's] character and integrity… his experience…
and, three, his ideas, which aren’t getting as much attention and I hope they
do.' You mean his enriching of his son Hunter, his two brothers, his daughter,
and her husband, none of whom were qualified for the positions they were given
and only got thanks to Biden’s corrupt activities.

Pa. mail carrier sues U.S. Postal Service over Sunday work shifts
He
will probably win this case based on First Amendment protection of religious
freedom. If he does not, then it will be appealed up the chain. With Trump’s
190+ new conservative federal judges and two Supreme Court Justices, he will
eventually win the case, and a new precedent will be set. Christians will be
able to request Sundays off, Jews, Saturdays, and Muslims, Fridays. In fact, I
wonder if there have been orthodox Jews or Muslims who would like to work for
the Postal Service but have not applied because they would have to work on their
holy days. The correct ruling here would open the door for them to do so.

Letter to the editor: Founders warned us about Donald Trump
No, the Founders we concerned about partisan impeachments, that would turn the US into a parliamentary system where the President serves at the pleasure of Congress, as articulated by Professor Jonathan Turley during the legal experts hearing.
Moreover, plans were already in the works to release the military aid at the end
of August, two weeks before the WB complaint, as demonstrated by a letter by
Senator Johnson. He had called the President out of concern about the aid. Trump
told him, it was under review, “But you will like what we will decide”
indicating the aid was to be soon released. It was, on September 11, two weeks
before the fiscal year deadline of September 30.

Report: Intel officials say Russia boosting Trump candidacy
“The disclosure, in a closed-door briefing last week” “The two officials who were familiar with the briefing asked for anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence.”
For those who
wondered why Trump did not inform Congress about strikes against Al-Baghdadi and
Soleimani, here’s why. This info was not supposed to be released to the public,
but here we are talking about it, because some Dem lawmaker ran to their liberal
friends WaPo and the NYT and leaked this information.

Census Bureau finds Pa. divorce rates declined over the last decade
This is good news. Would be even more so if it were nationwide.

North Carolina police charge mother in 1999 slaying of baby
A
truly sad story. But she should have just gone to a Planned Parenthood two days
earlier. Then it would have been a perfectly legal abortion, and all of this
fuse could have been avoided. Just shows how insane our society is when it comes
to when life begins. One day, it just a mass of tissue that can be thrown away.
Two days later, it is murder if you do the same.

Former Ukraine diplomat Marie Yovanovitch has book deal
“investigate baseless
corruption allegations against Democrat Joe Biden and his son Hunter” No matter
how often Dems and the MSM repeat this line, they were never investigated, so
there is no way of knowing if they were “baseless” or not. As for Marie, she has
learned the scheme of how to get rich: be part of the Trump administration, then
write a book criticizing him. Meanwhile, her testimony was a complete waste of
time. All it was designed to do was to show Trump is a big, bad meanee. Even if
you believe that, it is not an impeachable offense.

The First Impeachment of Donald J. Trump
This three-volume set covers the impeachment of Donald J. Trump that occurred over the fall of 2019 to the winter of 2020. It was yet one more attempt to oust the President from office by Democrats, who never accepted he won in 2016. A complaint about a phone call between President Trump and Ukraine President Zelensky led to an impeachment inquiry to begin in early September 2019. Along the way, the corruption of Joe Biden that Trump wanted investigated and which led to the impeachment inquiry is discussed.
The above commentaries were posted here on March 4, 2020.
