Leg Raises - 12/9/07, 20 reps. Note that I am pausing at the top and bottom of each rep. This prevents swinging the legs, which would eliminate almost any benefits.
Sit-ups - 12/12/07, 15/9. Yes, real sit-ups, not wimpy crunches. When in the real world do you just bend forward a couple of inches? A physically active person should have no problems with just sitting up and lying down without having to twist or use their hands. And it is real sit-ups that develop that ability.
Crunch/ Side-Bend Combo - 12/20/07, 9 reps to each side. This is an exercise I got out of Men’s Health magazine. You lie on the floor, crunch up, bend to the left, bend to the right, then lie back down. That constitutes one rep.
Twisting Leg Raises - 1/6/07, 12 reps to each side.
Twisting Sit-ups - 2/4/08, 12 reps to each side.
Crunches - 2/11/08, 50/12. Note that I am holding the plates as close to my chin as possible. Holding them lower would not add much resistance. Playing in the background is one of my favorite songs from my all-time favorite group, Led Zeppelin’s “Kasmir.”
Dip Bar Reverse Crunches - 2/15/08, 14 reps. Keep the legs bent throughout this exercise, and do not lower them all the way down. This keeps some tension on the abs throughout the exercise.
