Trump's Three Best Day One Actions

By Gary F. Zeolla

Trump had a very busy Inauguration Day on January 20, 2025. After and in between all of the ceremonies, balls, and parties, he issued almost eighty executive actions. These are listed in the White House’s website at: Presidential Actions. All of these actions were excellent and worth pursuing. But I want to focus on three of them.

Ending DEI

The first is the ending of “of so-called ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ (DEI) or ‘diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility’ (DEIA) that can violate the civil-rights laws of this Nation.”

This was accomplished first in the following executive order: Ending Illegal Discrimination And Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity. It was then continued in other executive orders and in a slew of orders rescinding Biden’s executive orders, as seen on the following pages:

Ending Radical And Wasteful Government DEI Programs And Preferencing.

Initial Rescissions Of Harmful Executive Orders And Actions

Much could be said about DEI in its various forms. But at its roots it is discrimination based on some factor other than merit. But what Trump is doing with these executive orders is restoring the federal government to a meritocracy. You get hired and advance due to your qualifications, skills, and performance, not due to race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identify, or any other factor that does not affect performance.

Pardoning J6ers

The second executive action was the pardoning of most all of the 1,500 people charged in in the January 6, 2021 Capitol Building uprising (J6), with 14 people having their sentences commuted.

This is seen at Granting Pardons And Commutation Of Sentences For Certain Offenses Relating To The Events At Or Near The United States Capitol On January 6, 2021. I wrote extensively about this event and the events leading up to it and their aftermath in my five-book series. The 2020 Election, the January 6 “Insurrection,” and Their Aftermath.

I document that most all of those who entered the Capitol Building (CB) on that day were peaceful. They peacefully entered the CB, in many cases walking right past police officers who did nothing to stop them or even were waved in my police officers who moved fences so that they could approach the CB. They then milled around the CB looking like tourists, taking pictures with their phones, then peacefully exited the CB, having committed no acts of violence or vandalism. I said from the start of my reporting that such people should not be charged with any crimes, as they had no knowledge of doing anything wrong.

However, they were charged with such ridiculous charges as parading, illegal entry, or obstruction of an official proceeding. In many cases, they were browbeaten into accepting plea bargains to lesser crimes to avoid the risk of trials for greater alleged crimes, with threats of decades of prison time. The cases that went to trial were all tried in Washington DC, where over 90% of the jury pool voted for Joe Biden, so their guilty verdicts were a forgone conclusion.

As such prosecutions were occurring, I was already saying that if a Republican wins the White House in 2024, he should pardon all such people, as it was an abuse of power for Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) to have brought such bogus charges against them. The Supreme Court agreed with this assessment on one of these charges, when they ruled the obstruction of an official proceeding charge was not applicable in this situation. Yet, I never heard that the 300 people convicted under that charge were ever released nor had their records expunged.

On the other hand, I initially contented that those charged with violent crimes and vandalism, especially those who attacked police officers, should be charged, and if found guilty, serve out their prison sentences, with no pardons forthcoming. But then it became obvious that even in these cases, the sentences were exorbitant, far out of line with the charges.

That was especially the case when you compare what happened to these J6ers to those involved in the 2020 Antifa/ BLM riots. In most cases, violent rioters were not even arrested, or if arrested, were not charged, or if charged, were left off with very light sentences. For example, here in Pittsburgh, PA, 33 rioters were arrested, but our waste of a District Attorney refused to pursue charges, and all 33 of them were released with no repercussions for their actions whatsoever.

Consequently, in my final J6 book (The Biased J6 Select Committee), I began to say that even the violent offenders should be pardoned. If anything, it is the members of the bias Committee I discuss in that book who should have been charged for their many miscarriages of justice in their public hearings. Biden knew that was the case. That is why he gave all of them preemptive pardons the day before leaving office. Biden also gave primitive pardons to members of his family literally minutes before he left office.

The left is going nuts over Trump’s pardons of the J6ers but are paying little mind to Biden’s pardons. That is to have it backwards. Trump promised to pardon the J6ers, so he was keeping his promise. Biden, on the other hand, promised to not to pardon his son Hunter, so he broke that promise. And he never said anything about pardoning his other family members and the entire J6 Select Committee. But he did so anyway.

Now, I can understand the police officers who were assaulted on J6 being upset, and police officers in general. But those who engaged in such criminal behavior have already served up to four years in prison. They have also lost their jobs and reputations. As such, they have not gotten off scot free.

The left is saying such pardons are an endorsement of attacking police officers and will lead to more such violent behavior occurring. They are further saying those who are released will engage in further criminal and violent behavior.

However, I seriously doubt that will be the case. We will probably never hear about 99% of the pardonees ever again. Sure, out of 1,500 people, a few of them are certain to get arrested again, and the left will certainly broadcast it as much as possible. But it will be a case of simple numbers. Out of 1,500 people, of course, a few will end up in trouble with the law, for the simple reason that such would be the case with any group of that many people.

But overall, this was a great move and the first step in returning a sense of fairness to the DOJ. Trump's DOJ will now have to stop going after grandmas who peacefully milled round the CB, so maybe they can return to tracking down and prosecuting real criminals.

Ending Trans Insanity

In one of his Inauguration Day speeches, Trump declared that it would be the official position of the US government that “there are only two sexes, male and female.” I was thrilled to hear that. But I also thought he should have added, “and you cannot change from one to the other.”  But then I was even more thrilled to see that such is asserted in the actual executive order: Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism And Restoring Biological Truth To The Federal Government.

      This order states:

It is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female.  These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality….

(d) “Female” means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell.

(e) “Male” means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the small reproductive cell.

I especially like that the definition of each sex is grounded in biology, not how someone “identifies,” and that it is indicated a person’s sex is determined at conception. That contradicts the now often used but absolutely absurd “sex assigned at birth” phrase. That unscientific phrase now even appears on medical forms and health articles.

When I see that phrase on medical forms, I refuse to fill it out, and when I see it in health articles, I stop reading, as I know the writer does not understand basic biology. As such, I cannot trust his or her health advice.

      The order also states:

Agencies shall effectuate this policy by taking appropriate action to ensure that intimate spaces designated for women, girls, or females (or for men, boys, or males) are designated by sex and not identity.

This trans issue is also addressed in some of the rescinding of Biden’s policies mentioned previously. He had also proposed requiring allowing men and boys who identify as women or girls to compete in female sports. That nonsense will also now be stopped.

There is also the following in the order:

      (c)  The Attorney General shall ensure that the Bureau of Prisons revises its policies concerning medical care to be consistent with this order, and shall ensure that no Federal funds are expended for any medical procedure, treatment, or drug for the purpose of conforming an inmate’s appearance to that of the opposite sex.

This was a policy Kamala Harris supported and would have been continued if she had won the election. But thank God, we the taxpayers will not have to pay for supporting the delusions of prisoners.

For much more on trans insanity and the wrongness of allowing males in female sports and private spaces, see my three-volume set on Sex and the Bible. All three of these books are now available in audiobook format, as are all five of the previously mentioned J6 books.

Conclusion

Trump is off to a great start with these Day One executive orders. Here’s praying he continues in this vein and that these and his other proposed beneficial policies are fully implemented.
