Trump Said There Was a Crisis at the Border,

But He was Ridiculed for It

Back on January 8, 2019, President Trump gave a primetime national address from the Oval Office. In it, he declared there was a “security crisis” and a “humanitarian crisis” on the southern border. On the latter, he said:

This is a humanitarian crisis, a crisis of the heart and a crisis of the soul…. Women and children are the biggest victims by far of our broken system. This is the tragic reality of illegal immigration on our southern border. This is the cycle of human suffering that I am determined to end.…

The only thing that is immoral is for the politicians to do nothing and continue to allow more innocent people to be so horribly victimized (quoted in American Spectator).

He called for Congress to allocate $5.7 Billion in funding for the border to increase both border security and to provide much needed supplies and personal to handle the ever-increasing number of migrants seeking to legally and illegally enter the USA. And of course, he again asked for funding to build his border wall.

Note that building a wall would help to alleviate these crises in two ways. First, it would decrease illegal entry into the USA between legal points of entry. Second., it would free up Border Patrol from having to patrol the vast amount of unprotected border, so that they could be reassigned to the legal points of entry to increase personal there.

Reaction of Dems in Congress and the MSM

Did Democrats in Congress and the mainstream media (MSM) believe the President that there was a crisis that needed to be immediately addressed? Of course not. Instead, Trump was ridiculed endlessly by both Democrats in Congress and by the MSM.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer declared, “Most presidents have used Oval Office addresses for noble purposes. This president just used the backdrop of the Oval Office to manufacture a crisis, stoke fear, and divert attention from the turmoil in his administration.” Similarly, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “The President is “manufacturing a crisis.” A Congresswoman declared, “The scam of the whole address was that there is a crisis at the border.”

Then a memo must have gotten circulated among Dems and the MSM, as they all began using the phrase, “manufactured crisis” for Trump’s claim of there being a humanitarian and security crisis at the southern border. Even Democratic Presidential candidates joined in by using the phrase, including Kamala Harris, Julian Castro, and Elizabeth Warren, while Bernie Sanders called it an “artificial crisis” (American).

In the midst of all of this ridicule, there was no increased funding for the border, neither for security nor for humanitarian purposes, and of course not for Trump’s border wall. Consequently and predictably, the situation at the border deteriorated, as the number of migrants seeking entry into the country increased.

Fast-forward six months, and now Dems in Congress and the MSM media are decrying the humanitarian crisis at the border, and they are declaring it’s all Trump’s fault! He’s a horrible despicable man for not doing anything to address the growing humanitarian crisis at the border. The greatly overworked and underfunded Border Patrol are also being denigrated for their supposed lack of concern for the detainees at the border.

But if Congress had just listened to the President six months ago and provided the needed increased funding Trump called for in that address, all of this could have been avoided. But no matter, as it’s still Trump’s fault. He was supposed to magically do something about the crisis at the border (which Dems and the MSM denied was occurring), and prevented the much worse situation we now have.

After almost six months, on June 25, 2019, Congress finally approved $4.6 Billion for humanitarian relief at the border. That was $1 Billion less than Trump had originally asked for, and they specified it cannot be used for increased security nor for the border wall.

It is good they finally did something, but it is too little too late. And worse is four Democratic members of the House and eight Democratic members of the Senate either voted against the funding or were absent for the vote. The latter includes all of the Democratic Senators who are running for President. Yet they are still the biggest denigrators of Trump for his supposed lack of response to the crisis!

AOC Lies and Hypocrisy

The worse of the Congressional Dems in this regard is House Rep Alexander Ocasio Cortez (AOC). She had also joined into the “manufactured crisis” chants after Trump’s Oval Office address. Then more recently, she very publicly cried at the border over the locked-up children, but it was later exposed she was standing in front of a parking lot not a detention center.

She ridiculously called those detention centers “concentrations camps,” showing her complete lack of knowledge of what real Nazis concentration camps were like. She later claimed she was not referring to Nazi concentration camps. But she ended her statement by saying “Never again,” negating that claim.

She also said the camps were used to house Japanese-Americans during WWII. That is true, but such use began under Obama. In fact, much of what we are seeing today began under Obama. The separating of children from the adults they come to the border with (who are often not their parents) and the putting of children into “cages” were both started by Obama. The latter, BTW, are really just chain link fences separating men from women for the protection of the women, many of whom are raped by those men on the way to the border, and children from adults who might hard them.

Back to AOC, she lied and said female detainees were being told to drink out of the toilet. What she was referring to were combination toilet/ sink units. The toilet seat is on one side; the tank is in the middle, then a sink is on the other side. The water supply comes up from the floor, then splits, with one line going to the tank and the other to the sink. It is a space saving design, that is in no way unhealthy or unsanitary, as AOC makes it out to be.

AOC lied and said she was not safe while touring a detention center. Note, she did not say she did not feel safe but that she was not safe. That is because she claimed she was attacked by a male border agent. But in fact, she is the one who was belligerent with border security.

AOC claimed border agents are all racists, apparently not noticing that half of border agents are Hispanic.

But then what can you expect from someone who says facts do not matter, as long as you are “morally right?” It is in that vein that AOC declared Trump is “No question” a racist, without offering any facts to support that assertion, except to perpetrate the lie about Trump’s remarks on Charlottesville.

AOC also praised the Wayfair employees. They were so upset about children sleeping on the floor in the detention centers that they walked out of their jobs building beds that were to be sold to the detention centers for the child to sleep in! That is truly indescribable in its stupidity both on the part of AOC and the Wayfair employees.

But despite all of these claims about how horrible conditions are at the border, AOC was one of just four members of the House who voted against the $4.6 Billion for humanitarian relief! How hypocritical can you get! Yet rather than being ridiculed for her hypocrisy, AOC continues to be the darling of the media.

It is truly astonishing how the hatred for Donald Trump overrides any common sense among the freshmen class of Democratic congressmen and especially congresswomen and the MSM.

Orchestrated Crisis

Rather than being a “manufactured crisis,” the situation at the border is an orchestrated crisis, by Dems, some Repulsions, and even the MSM. They want the border to get overwhelmed by illegal aliens seeking entry. Their hope is the Trump administration will just give up, open up the border, and cease to try to enforce our border laws. That is why the Dems refused funding to deal with the humanitarian crisis at the border for so long and why they still resist funding border security and especially the border wall.

Dems want as many illegal aliens to flood the USA as possible, in hopes they will all become good little Democrats, and some Republicans want illegal aliens here for cheap labor for their home states.

Dems have sweetened the pot by offering free stuff for all in the USA, citizens and non-citizens alike, including free health care for all illegal aliens. Never mind that everyone in the world with an expensive health problem will flood the USA and bankrupt any single-payer system they might propose. All they want is power, and they will use other peoples’ money to attain it, even if it means destroying the great economy we now have thanks to President Trump.

Disgusting Facebook Group

Before ending this article, I need to comment on the Facebook group exposed by ProPublica.

The three-year-old group, which has roughly 9,500 members, shared derogatory comments about Latina lawmakers who plan to visit a controversial Texas detention facility on Monday, calling them “scum buckets” and “hoes.”

Members of a secret Facebook group for current and former Border Patrol agents joked about the deaths of migrants, discussed throwing burritos at Latino members of Congress visiting a detention facility in Texas on Monday and posted a vulgar illustration depicting Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez engaged in oral sex with a detained migrant, according to screenshots of their postings (ProPublica).

AOC, other Dems, and the MSM are having a field day over this group. They claim it shows their concerns about Border Patrol being racists and sexists is justified, as 9,500 members represents almost half of the 20,000 current Border Patrol agents.

However:

The National Border Patrol Council, the union which represents the vast majority of Border Patrol agents, said it condemned the inappropriate content in the Facebook group.

“The content found in this group – whose membership is composed of agents, retired employees, employees who no longer work for Border Patrol, and members of the public – is not representative of our employees and does a great disservice to all Border Patrol agents, the overwhelming majority of whom perform their duties honorably,” it said in a statement (Nation).

Note that the Facebook group is not solely or even mostly composed of current Border Patrol agents. That number is probably very small. And those who are will be disciplined, though firing them might be difficult to due to the ridiculous rules governing the firing of federal employees.

But what these disgusting comments show is that Border Patrol is underfunded, overworked, and overwhelmed by the sheer number of aliens seeking to illegally enter our country. That is the root of these comments, though not a defense of them.
