Democratic Party Debates
I haven’t said much about politics this election cycle, as I feel like debating politics is a distraction from preaching the Gospel. But I’ve watched all of the debates, and the Democrats are driving me crazy, and I cannot hold it in anymore.
Democratic Candidate’s Complaints
During every debate, both Hillary and Bernie are constantly complaining that:
1. The rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer.
2. Jobs have gone overseas.
3. Heath care costs are ridiculously high.
4. Millions do not have health insurance.
5. The cost of college has skyrocketed.
6. Youths are getting in trouble as there are no jobs for them.
7. Racial tensions have gotten worse.
8. There is too much incivility in Washington.
9. ISIS (or ISIL) has grown into a great threat.
10. American influence has declined.
And on and on their complaints go about how bad things are.
My Reaction
The whole time watching the debates, I feel like shouting at the TV screen: THE DEMOCRAT OBAMA HAS BEEN PRESIDENT FOR THE LAST SEVEN YEARS!
Really. The way they talk you’d think a Republican has been president. The point is, they don’t seem to associate all of these problems with Obama and his policies. But it is Obama’s economy. It is Obama who has fueled racial tensions with his idiotic comments every time there is a racial incident. It is Obama’s unconstitutional executive orders and snide comments that has fueled the incivility in Washington. It is Obama’s (and Hilary’s!) foreign policies that allowed ISIS to grow into such a threat and caused the decline of American influence. And most of all, it is called Obamacare for a reason.
But Hillary and Bernie seem to think the way to solve all of these problems that Obama caused or worsened is by doubling down on his policies. It’s like you know you’re going in the wrong direction, but you think the way to get to where you want to go is to go faster in the same direction.
For instance, in the last debate, Bernie complained that youths are getting into trouble as there are no jobs for them, but he claims he will “create millions of jobs for youths.” But at the same time, he wants to raise the minimum wage to $15/ hour. But it is because of the minimum wage that there are so few jobs for youths, and there is no way employers are going to hire 16 years olds to sweep floors if they have to pay them $15/ hour.
Another thing, and this is for my Millennial friends: what are they teaching in school nowadays that has led your generation to think that socialism is a good idea? Didn’t they teach you about the Soviet Union? Does your generation even know what the letters “USSR” stand for and what happened to it? Doesn’t your generation follow current events, as in Greece or Venezuela?
That’s enough political rant for now; back to preaching the Gospel, the way to really change America.
