Apologetics Books:

Amazon Christian Books Recommendations

By Gary F. Zeolla

This page provides links to recommended books on apologetics available from Amazon.

Complete Works of Francis A. Schaeffer: A Christian Worldview (5 Volume Set) - By Francis A. Schaeffer. This writer read through Schaeffer's Complete Works shortly before becoming a Christian. They were instrumental in solidifying my belief in the truthfulness of the Christian faith and in forming the foundation for my theological viewpoints. Individual books by Schaeffer are also available, along with The Francis A. Schaeffer Trilogy. This volume contains Schaeffer's first three books, which are foundational to the rest of his books. All of Schaeffer's writings are highly recommended.

Best Of Josh Mcdowell: A Ready Defense - McDowell utilizes an evidential approach to apologetics. This writer prefers a presuppositional as demosntrated by Van Til or a verificational approach, as demonstrated by Schaeffer.  However, an evidential approach can be beneficial depending on the circumstance. And this book is a good way to be introduced to McDowells' works. Many individual volumes by McDowell are also available.

Classical Readings in Christian Apologetics - Edit by L. Russ Bush. Christians have always been called on to defend their beliefs--certainly no less today than at any other time in history. In this book the outstanding apologists of previous centuries become models, both in the content of their writing and their methodology, for Christians today.

Death of Truth: What's Wrong With Multiculturalism, the Rejection of Reason and the New Postmodern Diversity - Dennis McCallum, Editor. Finding Your Way Through the Maze of Multiculturalism, , Inclusivism, and the New Postmodern Diversitity. Examines the implications of postmodernism, the guiding spirit of our times, an outlook that sees reason and rationality as mere cultural biases, and concludes that truth, as historically understood, does not exist. Kindle edition.

Defense of the Faith - By Cornelius Van Til. Presents the use and benefits of the presupposition apologetic approach. Not easy reading, but worth the effort. See also Christian Apologetics

Mere Christianity - C.S. Lewis's classic defense of the Christian faith. The preceding link is to the paperback edition.  Kindle edition. Many other books by Lewis are also available. All of them are recommended.

Paul On Trial The Book Of Acts As A Defense Of Christianity - By veteran lawyer John Mauck. Looks at the book of Acts as a legal brief, providing fresh insights gleaned from Roman law, the Jewish roots of Christianity, Luke's "argument," and "witness testimony." An unique way of doing apologetics.

Soul of Science - By Nancy Pearcey and Charles Thaxton. The authors look at this field of study in its formative stages--when Christianity was the backdrop to virtually all scientific discussion--and explore the key controversies that changed the face of science. Kindle edition.

When Skeptics Ask: A Handbook on Christian Evidences - By Norman L. Geisler and Ronald M. Brooks. Answers skeptics' questions including: God, Jesus Christ, Evil, Miracles, the Bible, Truth, Morality, Evolution, Archeology. The most concise book of Christian evidences anywhere.
