The following e-mails are commenting on the exchange A Lesbian Responds. The e-mailers' comments are in black and enclosed in "greater than" and "lesser than" signs. My comments are in red.

I have just discovered this site tonight and have thoroughly enjoyed the information and email exchanges.

The reason for my email is to let people know that, I too, felt for about 40 years that I was "born a lesbian." All my life I have lived the lifestyle and felt I had no hope of changing. There were so many times in my life that I would pray and ask God why I was gay. There were many times too that suicide came to mind. Praise our Lord as I am one of those who has been delivered from homosexuality and to this day I can say that it was nothing I did. God did this and I haven't lived a homosexual lifestyle in over two years now.

This is something I fear to reveal in the Church I attend as people do judge but then again it's something I feel is a great testimony of the power of our Lord. Anyhow, thank you for taking time to get this site up and maintain it as well as you are. I do hope that your health improves and believe me, if God can change this "used to be lesbian" into a Christian then he will help your back :)

Thank you for your testimony. Very interesting and encouraging! If you don't object, I will add your e-mail to the responses to the lesbian e-mail exchange. I will only use your initial. And BTW, my back problem has improved considerably.

Thank you for responding and yes, do share this with others on the board as I'm sure there are people other than myself who have had this same experience or are currently feeling as though they will always be homosexual. Our Lord is powerful! He made us and he can mold us into whatever pleases Him, we are the clay afterall.

I'm glad to hear that your back is feeling better and I will pray that total recovery for you is in His plans. Living with pain, whether emotional, mental, spiritual or physical is not easy. I'm so grateful we have a Mighty God to turn to with our difficulties. He is Faithful!

>I visited your site, read the exchange with the lesbian, and was reminded of a number of e-mail and personal conversations I have had with people "hell-bent" on evil (I'm not sure if that pun was intended or not). Some people are downright proud of their evil. As Paul wrote, "whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who think about earthly things" (Philippians 3:19).<

That did seem to describe her. Interestingly, I haven't had anyone else commenting on that exchange yet. I thought for sure that one would bring a flood of comments.

If you knew me, you would know my Father also" (John 8:19). So, it was good that you preached repentance to Sheri. Maybe she will be in the "and such were some of you" category from 1Cor 6:9-11.

It was a difficult correspondence. I wasn't really sure how best to respond to her, especially with the nasty comments she was making. The "natural" response would be to respond in kind, but that wouldn't have helped. So I tried to address one main issue, the authority of Scripture. I'm not sure if that was the right approach or not.

>Don't second-guess yourself. Here's something I keep in mind as I minister and evangelize: If we are obedient to give the message we ourselves cannot fail. The other person's acceptance or rejection of the message does not make us a success or a failure. We are a success simply by obeying God's command to preach His word.

>Homosexuality has been studied in identical twins if one twin is homosexual then the other one is about 50% of the time. Some people say this is a correlation between genes and sexual orientation, but it actually proves it does not. If people were born gay then someone genetically identical would also have to be the case, but it is not. And as for the 50% how much of that is because of same environment and other factors? Just a comment about your letter with the lesbian. Oh and I will be praying for you too that God will help you stick with your view that what the Bible says is right and not just how people feel, or want to live.

You did sound like a broken record, and I am amazed she didn't seem to get it that without the Bible as the standard, there's no use debating anything as the Bible is foundational. The Bible is the only objective basis. I was just discussing this with my husband this evening and it was nice to have it confirmed by reading it in one of your pages.<

And thank you for confirming that how I handle that exchange was appropriate. It was difficult knowing how best to respond to her. I've had second-thoughts about it.

Yes, confrontations are difficult. And it can be draining dealing with people like the lesbian, but it is necessary. So with God supporting, I press on as best as I am able.
