Trib Live/ AP. FDA advisory panel rejects widespread Pfizer booster shots

       An influential federal advisory panel overwhelmingly rejected a plan Friday to offer Pfizer booster shots against covid-19 to most Americans, dealing a heavy blow to the Biden administration’s effort to shore up people’s protection amid the highly contagious delta variant.

      The vote by the committee of outside experts assembled by the Food and Drug Administration was 16-12, with members expressing frustration that Pfizer had provided little data on the safety of extra doses. Many also raised doubts about the value of mass boosters, rather than ones targeted to specific groups.

      Dealing the White House a stinging setback, a government advisory panel overwhelmingly rejected a plan Friday to give Pfizer COVID-19 booster shots across the board, and instead endorsed the extra dose only for those who are 65 or older or run a high risk of severe disease.

      The incompetent Biden administration getting ahead of the science rather than “following the science” as Biden promised. By this inept act, Biden just increased vaccine hesitancy. By saying everyone needed a booster shot, when in fact only the elderly and high-risk groups do, you now have those who are younger and healthy thinking the vaccines don’t work. I’ve seen social media posts of people joking, “It’s 2025, and I’m lining up to get my 5,000^th Covid booster shot.”

But in fact:
      While research suggests immunity levels in those who have been vaccinated wane over time and boosters can reverse that, the Pfizer vaccine is still highly protective against severe illness and death, even amid the spread of the highly contagious delta variant (Newsmax).
