Time for a Break
The following message was posted in the Weight Trainer's United forum and on my MySpace page.
I have been having many setbacks health-wise of late. During the day on Thursday (12/11/08) I had some more problems. I managed to workout that day okay and put in the deadlift workout I had planned on doing the week before. But I felt terrible afterwards and barely slept that night. I’ve had more problems since then.
Lying awake about 3:00 am, I finally decided that I cannot do this anymore, so I am stopping lifting for at least the rest of this year. I’ll see how I feel at the beginning of ’09 and decide then if I will try lifting again. I haven’t taken more than a week off from lifting since I started lifting again 6-½ years ago, so maybe the extended break will do me good.
Needless to say, I will not be entering the contest in January I was thinking of, so that makes two contests in a row I’ve had to forgo. I have no idea if I will compete again or not, definitely not in the first half of next year. But I already know of several contests the second half of the year that could be possibilities.
If I don’t compete again, at least I had a good run. I competed for over five years, from April 2003 to June 2008. I only entered nine contests in that time period, but that’s nine contests more than I ever thought I’d enter again, so I thank God for that.
