APF/ AAPF Ohio State Powerlifting Championships - 2017
Pictures
I competed in the Ohio State Powerlifting Championships for the American Powerlifting Federation (APF) and the Amateur American Powerlifting Federation (AAPF) on September 9, 2017. For a contest report, see APF/ AAPF Ohio State Powerlifting Championships - 2017. For this contest, I stayed at a Super 8 Hotel in Newcomerstown about 15 miles from the contest site. The contest was held at at Blackstone’s Gym in West Lafayette, OH. Below are pictures of the hotel and contest venue. Click any picture for a larger image.
Super 8 Hotel
The front of the hotel.
The sign out front.
The turn-in to the hotel. You can see in these pictures that there is nothing around.
The rode to the hotel. Way in the distance
is a McDonalds and BP gas station.
I filled up at the BP for my trip home. But I ate at a Wendy's across the street
after the contest.
The back of the hotel where I parked. My room was just behind the steps.
A picnic table, nice, but I never used it.
The side of the building.
The door of my room.
The beds. I slept on the one on the right and laid on the other one during the day.
The bathroom.
A square table near the front.
The mirror.
A safe and I think something to hang clothes on.
The square table, microwave, fridge and TV.
The TV and a round table.
View from the bed I laid on during the day.
The inside of the fridge. It was a really nice size.
An interesting picture over the left bed.
Another picture over the right bed.
The only window. With a tree in front of it, I didn't have much of a view.
Contest Venue
The front of the gym.
The right side from the front.
The back.
Closer pic of the back.
The first half of the gym when entering by
the back door.
This was where the contest was held.
The contest monolift.
The contest bench.
This is what I miss with my home gym. Having to use changeable DBs is such a pain.
Heavy DBs. 140s.
Equipment.
The far end of the gym. This part was not in use during the contest.
More equipment.
Yet more equipment.
The box in the corner is the lone bathroom.
Treadmills.
Powerlifting and Back Pain
The first book is geared towards the beginner to intermediate powerlifter. It presents sound training, competition, dietary, and supplement advice to aid the reader in starting and progressing in the sport of powerlifting. The second book details how I overcame years of crippling low back and was able to return to the sport of powerlifting.
