Back to Hard and Heavy Training
After a series of injuries over a 2-1/2-year period, I am finally back to hard and heavy training. Pulling a heavy double with 340 felt good. It’s a long way from the 405 @ 114s I pulled at my last contest back in March 2021 on my 60th birthday, but I am thankful for the progress.

CNN. How Much Ultraprocessed Foods are you eating?
Ultraprocessed foods have been linked to a higher risk of cancer, heart disease, obesity and early death, yet estimates say 71% of the food supply in the United States may contain ingredients created in a laboratory.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, ultraprocessed foods contain ingredients “never or rarely used in kitchens, or classes of additives whose function is to make the final product palatable or more appealing.”
This short CNN article emphasizes a point I made previously—the first and most important step in developing a healthy diet is to restrict processed foods and to consume mostly whole natural foods as God intended us to at them. That is far more important than focusing on “marcos” (the ratio of carbs, protein, and fat in your diet) or meal timing.
For support for why doing so is so important, see my nutrition books (#ad).

God-given
Foods Eating Plan
For Life-long Health, Optimization of
Hormones, Improved Athletic Performance
The approach of this book is to study different foods and food groups, with a chapter devoted to each major classification of foods. First the Biblical evidence is considered, then the results of this research is compared to what modern day scientific research is saying a healthy eating plan entails. Foods are then classified as “God-given foods” and “non-God-given foods.” The main point will be that a healthy diet is composed of a variety of God-given foods and avoids non-God-given foods. This will simplify the designing of a healthy eating plan.
