Revelation 22
1And he showed to me a pure river of water of life, bright as
crystal, coming out [fig., flowing] from the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2in
the middle of its open street. And the river from here and from there [fig., And
on each side of the river] [was] a tree of life, producing twelve fruits,
according to each month [fig., monthly] yielding its fruits. And the leaves of
the tree [are] for [the] healing of the nations.
3And every curse will not be
[any] longer [fig., And [there] will be no more curse], and the throne of God
and of the Lamb will be in it, and His slaves will sacredly serve Him. 4And
they will see His face, and His name [will be] on their foreheads. 5And
night will not be [fig., exist] there, and they have no need of a lamp and of
[the] light of [the] sun, because [the] Lord God illuminates them. And they will
reign as kings into the ages of the ages [fig., forever and ever].
6And he says to me, “These
words [are] trustworthy and true, and [the] Lord God of the spirits of the
prophets sent His angel to show to His slaves what [things are] necessary to
occur with quickness.”
7“And listen! I am coming quickly! Happy [is] the one
keeping the words of the prophecy of this scroll.”
8And I, John, [am] the one hearing and seeing these [things].
And when I heard and saw, I fell down to prostrate myself in worship
[or, reverence]
before the
feet of the angel, the one showing these [things] to me. 9And he says
to me, “See [that you do] not! I am a fellow-slave of you and of your brothers
the prophets and of the ones keeping the words of this scroll. Prostrate
yourself in worship before God!”
10And he says to me, “Do
not seal the words of the prophecy of this scroll, for the time is near. 11The
one acting unjustly let him act unjustly still, and the filthy [person] let him
be made filthy still, and the righteous [person] let him practice righteousness
still, and the holy [person] let him be holy still.”
12“Listen! I am coming
quickly! And My reward [is] with Me, to render [or, to repay] to each as his
work will be [fig., according to his deeds]. 13I [am] the Alpha and
the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and End!”
14Happy [are] the ones doing His commandments, so that their
right will be to the tree of life, and they shall enter by the gates into the
city. 15Outside [are] the dogs and the sorcerers and the sexual
sinners [or, fornicators] and the murderers and the idolaters and every one affectionately loving
and practicing falsehood.
16“I, Jesus, sent My angel to testify to you* [or, to
tell you* about] these [things] concerning the assemblies. I am the Root
and the Offspring of David, the Bright, Morning Star!”
17And the Spirit and the
bride say, “Be coming!” And the one hearing, let him say, “Be coming!”
And the one thirsting, let him come. The one desiring, let him take [the] water
of life without cost.
18I
testify to everyone hearing the words of the prophecy of this scroll, if anyone
shall add to them, God [is prepared] to add to him the plagues, the ones having been
written in this scroll. 19And if anyone shall take away from the words of
the scroll of this prophecy, may God take away his part from the tree of life
and from the holy city, the [things] having been written in this scroll.
20The One testifying to these
things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly!” So be it! Yes, be coming, Lord
Jesus!
21The grace of the Lord Jesus
Christ [be] with all the holy ones. So be it!
