Colossians 3
1Therefore, since you* were raised together with Christ, be
seeking the [things] above, where Christ is, sitting at [the] right hand of God.
2Be setting your* minds on the [things] above, not [on] the [things]
on the earth. 3For you* died, and your* life has been hid with Christ
in God. 4Whenever Christ, [who is] our life, is revealed, then also we
will be revealed with Him in glory!
5Therefore,
put to death your* members, the ones on the earth: sexual sin [or, fornication], impurity [or,
immorality], lustful passion, evil desire, and the covetous desire [or, greed],
which is idolatry, 6because of which [things] the wrath of God is
coming upon the sons [and daughters] of disobedience, 7in which you*
also at one time walked about [fig., conducted yourselves], when you* were
living in them. 8But now you* yourselves also put off [fig., cease
from] all these [things]: anger, rage, malice, blasphemy, [and] obscene language
out of your* mouth.
9Stop lying to one another, having put off the old [or,
former] person with his practices, 10and having put on the new
[person], the [one] being renewed in full [or, true] knowledge according to
[the] image of the One having created him, 11where there is not Greek
and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, foreigner, Scythian, slave, [or] free
person, but Christ [is] all [things] and in all [things].
12Therefore,
put on as chosen [or, elect] ones of God, holy and beloved, bowels [or, hearts]
of compassion,
goodness [or, kindness], humility, gentleness [or, considerateness], patience, 13putting
up with one another and forgiving each other, if anyone shall be having a
complaint against anyone, just as Christ also forgave you*, so also [should]
you* [forgive]. 14But above all these [things put on] love, which is
[the] bond of perfection. 15And let the peace of God be exercising
control in your* hearts, to which also you* were called in one body, and become
thankful.
16Let the word of Christ be richly [or, abundantly] dwelling
in you*, in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing each other, in psalms and hymns
and spiritual songs, singing with grace [or, gratitude] in your* hearts to the
Lord. 17And every[thing], whatever you* shall be doing in word or in
deed, [be doing] all [things] in [the] name of [the] Lord Jesus, giving thanks
to the God and Father through Him.
18The
wives, be subjecting [or, submitting] yourselves to your* own husbands, as is
fitting in [the] Lord. 19The husbands, be loving your* wives, and
stop becoming bitter towards them. 20The children, be obeying your*
parents with respect to all [things], for this is well-pleasing in [the] Lord. 21The
fathers, stop making your* children resentful, so that they shall not continue
becoming discouraged.
22The
slaves, be obeying with respect to all [things] your* masters according to [the]
flesh, not in eye-service as people-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart,
fearing God. 23And every[thing], whatever you* shall be doing, be
working from [your*] soul [fig., heartily] as to the Lord and not to people, 24knowing
that from [the] Lord you* will receive the recompense of the inheritance, for to
the Lord Christ you* are serving as a slave. 25But the one doing
wrong [or, acting unjustly] will receive back what he did wrong [or, did
unjustly], and there is no accepting of faces [fig., partiality].
