The First Impeachment of Donald J. Trump
The first impeachment of Donald J. Trump began when he made a phone call on July 25, 2019. A complaint about that phone call led to an impeachment inquiry and proceedings in the US House and a trial in the US Senate. This impeachment and trial was occurring against the backdrop of the 2020 Presidential election, which was already underway in the summer of 2019, even though the election itself was still over a year away. As will be seen, and as the title of this three-volume set implies, that election was in fact the real impetus for the impeachment.
The fourth book in this series is actually a prequel to it. It covers events that occurred prior to the impeachment but which foreshadowed the loss of the presumption of innocence, of respect for the rule of law, and right to due process that was seen in the impeachment.
The United States of American is being torn apart by political differences more than any time since the 1960s and maybe since the Civil War of the 1860s. This tearing apart came to the forefront and was amplified during the confirmation proceedings for Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh. This book overviews the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation proceedings in detail. It then overviews these additional major events that occurred up to the end of November 2018.
Though this book was first published in 2018, it still has great relevance for today. The bogus sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh parallel those of E. J. Carroll against Trump. The political incivility called for by Dems and described in this book come to fruition in the assassination attempt on Trump. Biden needs to take a tip from Trump on how to handle a border crisis. And the election shenanigans in 2018 foreshowed those of 2020 and are a warning for 2024.
